No one should buy a car without taking it for a test drive. Nor should they put an offer on a house—especially in this market—without walking through the front door. So why make one of the most important investments in a child’s future—his or her education—without taking a closer look at each of the prospective schools on your “short list”?
Thankfully, local families don’t have to make that leap in the dark. Open-house events offer the perfect chance to explore, ask questions, and “get the vibe” of school communities firsthand. While many schools host these events in the fall, some also open their doors again in the winter and spring, offering multiple opportunities to visit.
Most of these events take an hour to 90 minutes, during which families will meet teachers, coaches, and administrators, as well as current students and alumnae, to get a clear sense of the school and what it has to offer—time very well spent. From classrooms and labs to athletic facilities and performance venues, students and their families will get to see the spaces where they could be learning, growing, and building community in the years ahead.
